As another successful year draws to a close, the Weekend Wanderers gathered for the Christmas Walk, led by David T. Todays walk, shorter than usual, but of sufficient length to give the walkers an appetite for lunch, started from Foxhouse, passing through the Longshaw Estate, calling at Grindleford Station, before arriving at Hathersage for the WW annual Christmas lunch held at the Little John.
A generous and tasty lunch was served just after 1.00 pm and was followed by marking and prize-giving to the winners of the two quizzes, Jean had handed out before lunch. Raffle tickets sold raised around £80 for the club funds and was duly drawn with winners choosing their prize from a vast array of gifts. Awards were then presented for 100% attendance on walks throughout the year and Jean was given a gift of appreciation from the group for all her hard work organising a wonderful walking programme and keeping the club on track for another year.
A lovely afternoon was had by all and following more drinks, chocolates and chatting, the coach arrived to take the Weekend Wanderers back to Doncaster.
Wishing all a very happy Christmas and New Year.
