Sunday 1st March 2020 – Bamford to Castleton

Walk Leader – David Torrington
Distance – 6.75 miles
Terrain – undulating, mainly across fields, clear paths and quiet road
Weather – bright, windy and chilly
Walkers – 41
Non Walkers – 4

New walkers, Christine and Jane welcomed to the group.

Starting from Bamford, today’s walk took in historic Bamford mill before progressing through the village of Thornhill. Continuing across muddy fields and clear tracks until the pretty town of Hope with its tea shops and pubs was reached for lunch.

The route in the afternoon took walkers along the Castleton road before taking a path behind Losehill Hall, now a popular Youth Hostel before reaching Castleton where walkers had some time to explore the shops before journeying back to Doncaster.

Dave was thanked for a lovely walk in the beautiful Hope valley.
